Google Is Bring Back Missing Out On Reviews In Business Profiles

Google is restoring missing reviews in Google Organization Profiles after repairing a bug that caused them to get eliminated.

Google is fixing a bug that triggered evaluations to go missing from Google Company Profiles. Google confirms evaluations are getting restored. Google’s Search Intermediary, Danny Sullivan, announced on Buy Twitter Verified in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who states he reported the bug a week ago.

Blumenthal isn’t overemphasizing the severity of the bug. Reviews are a dining establishment’s support, and eliminating them can substantially impact profits.

There are many threads in the Google Service Profile help forums started by business owners who lost most or all of their reviews.

In each thread, business owners share something in common. After using Google’s recommended edits to their company profile, they all lost reviews.

Blumenthal writes in an article that he found Google was altering the client recognition (CID) number when services applied suggested edits:

“With some digging, I discovered that in each case Google had changed the CID, the identifier Google uses to connect all relevant details to a business, consisting of reviews. Generally the CID just alters when two listings merge or Google has actually hard-suspended a listing for standards violations and after that reinstated it.”

Client reviews are connected with a specific CID number, which suggests changing the CID gets rid of the reviews.

That need to never ever take place, particularly not when applying Google’s recommended edits.

A repair is on the method, and hopefully, it’s as easy as going back the impacted Google Organization Profiles to their original CID numbers.

We’ll upgrade this post if Google shares additional details.
